Are Hercules Officials Committed to the Waterfront Transit Center?

It would include a train station, regional bus service and the potential for future ferry service.

Hercules city leaders reaffirmed their commitment this week to the creation of a new transit center that will include a train station, regional bus service and the potential for future ferry service, city officials said.

City Council members adopted a resolution during their meeting Tuesday "supporting the Hercules Intermodal Transit Center project as the highest priority project" for the city. 

The city has already begun planning and design work on the long-awaited $76 million project, which is at the center of the Hercules Bayfront Transit Village, a waterfront land development to include apartments, office and commercial space, according to city officials.

City Manager Steve Duran said construction on the first phase of the transit center project is set to begin this summer.
