Lupine Hills Elementary School welcomed students to its new facilities in 2004.
Before 2004, it was Hercules…More Elementary School, which was established in 1976 and started out as a series of portable classrooms. Lupine Hills Elementary is made up of a collection of brightly colored buildings surrounding a large play yard.
For the 2007-2008 year, 390 students enrolled in the school, with an average of 65 students per grade.
Lupine Hills Elementary School is part of the West Contra Costa School District. In the 2007-2008, it spent $5,273 per student -- compared to $4,536 per student in the district and $5,512 in the state. However, $931 of Lupine Hills Elementary School's expenditures was supplemental.
Lupine Hills Elementary School students tested an average of 12 percentage points higher than other schools in the district in English, math and science.
The school has an active PTA that hosts activities such as an ice cream social, book fairs and back-to-school night. Kathleen Brady is principal.
