Truly, the participants should boycott the race over this asinine backpack ban. I'm not a runner,…Read More but I would do so if I had previously had plans to attend this event.
But I already boycott doing any business in SF over the unconstitutional red light cameras and the OUTRAGEOUS fines that they have imposed for these pernicious, non-human devices so I guess this is just another reason to not visit SF.

Wouldn't the city be liable for any injuries sustained at the skate park??? Is it really that…Read More difficult to build? Has anybody reached out to Red Bull for funding???
kp February 21, 2013 at 01:22 am
The tennis courts were in the budget and on the agenda much longer than the skate park.. funds have…Read More been cut and diverted from there as well. Bottom line there just is not enough funding for all of the recreational activities in Pinole.
It would also be nice if there were an area with night lighting besides the tennis courts. Since it is the only venue with lighting soccer players, skaters, and other groups utilize it; ruining the playing surface an. d the nets, which then requires more money to just keep it playable.

That's funny I was going to say the same thing about a lot of 49r fans. However, football fans of…Read More just about any team have that element whether you want to recognize it or not. I'll be going to the Raiders games as much as I can this year because of the access to BART.

If I were a Raider's Fan, I would... it sounds like a good deal. Although, as CJ stated, I'd be…Read More concerned about increased crime. I remember a pre-season game with the Niners vs. the Raiders and there were a lot of incidents -- I said never again!

Palomar,
Well said comment!
There should have been an early pass-interference call on the 49ers as…Read More well.
If the refs had been making calls in the early game, players would have had to play by the rules throughout. Instead they let there be numerous late whistles and late hits (where one guy had the runner stopped with a tackle and then other guys were allowed to hit him--very physically dangerous and with game-changing possibilities of injuries and fumbles) and also over aggressive shoving/fighting after the point (mostly started by the Ravens).
I thought the officiating was poor and changed the nature of the game.
Wasn't this almost the fewest penalty calls that these teams have EVER had? (I'd like to hear those statistics.) Did these teams change that much from their previous season play that they now weren't doing penalties? I doubt it.
Palomar Parkman February 5, 2013 at 12:39 pm
The game was very entertaining for fans of both teams. That is why you watch. The 49ers played like…Read More a young team. Flashes of brilliance and moments of stupidity. The non-calls by the refs changed the ebb and flow. Their performance was pathetic and that is supposed to be the 'best' ref crew the NFL has to offer. Bad calls and non-calls never even out. I expect to see the game played by the rules.
I am not sure what the ultimate outcome would have been if it was properly officiated but it most definitely would not have been the same game I watched. What a disgraceful display by the NFL on their biggest stage.

Actually, Trisha, you are wrong about the title. This article is posted on multiple Patch pages. I'm…Read More looking at it under the Banning-Beaumont Patch. I also assume that when Peter posted, the article DID have a channel #, which was removed after his post. It wasn't rude, it was simply pointing out a discrepancy in the article, which was then corrected. Thanks, Peter, for pointing that out to the editors.

When I see Major League Baseball, the NFL, the AFL, the NBA, the NHL and the NCAA publish and…Read More enforce a real drug policy, I will believe someone has become serious about this issue. In the meantime I see a lot of posturing and worthless statements but little to no action. If we want to see our kids idolize people who use and condone the use of drugs, that is what we have now. It’s a sad commentary on what we have grown to accept.

PJM, this is a free enterprise system and as far as I know, no US laws have been broken. The real…Read More issue here is as I and now others have mentioned, want the youth of our country following the lead of these players who have chosen to play outside the lines of the game. I only use the NFL seemed like and I still think it is as did MLB in the recent HOF voting results begin setting the bar for future players. I do not care if one has more legal liability than the other. One good example might be the labeling of cigarette packaging with the warning health labels..... now do you see, it really doesn't matter how it happens, just as the Surgeon General's warning is to try to prevent smoking and inherent damage that may occur, but it also in a sense allows the tobacco companies some if very limited liability from Suites of the legal variety. It's all good in my book, but not the use of Steroids in MLB!
