I already do get some foodstuffs from Amazon. Yup, it saves money, I'd buy non-perishables from…Read More Amazon.

I would like to see a coffee shop that is open for dinner. I like the Waffle House in Pinole, but…Read More it is a bit dated, and it is not open for dinner. Their food is good though and worth the money.

The building is an attractive space with a great view over the Bay, and I'd like to see another…Read More restaurant in the space. The main problem, for a restaurant or any other business, is that it's in a somewhat out-of-the-way location, far from any other commercial activity; nobody just casually passing through town on San Pablo Avenue would know it's there. Sala once even resorted to stationing a sign-waggler at the corner of San Pablo and Sycamore!

As a resident living very close to it I'd like an affordable restaurant that serves food that is…Read More edible. Sala's food were horrible and expensive. It's a wonder it lasted for as long as it did. The location has a great view but because it's so out of the way the only way for it to succeed is word of mouth and that comes with having good food.

If this was a neglegent act from Chevron...why is the public having to pay the bill thru higher gas…Read More prices. ..when Chevron can pay for it out of their profits.

Senators Padilla and DeSaulnier of the Senate Energy committee need to step up. This happened…Read More because California's elected officials allowed it to happen. The Feds said it themselves. These industries will always push the envelope. It is a government agency that was responsible for protecting us from such harm, yet they failed to do so. We might get screwed at the gas pump, but we will be heard in the voting booth. Elect people who understand what real oversight and accountability means. Until then, expect more of the same.

I looked at yelp for Hercules and Pinole andit sure looks different than what was posted as the top…Read More 10. Also a business does not have to put themselves on Yelp. Anyone can add a business to yelp and review it. I don't know how you read the data it sure doesn't look same to me. Put in the towns and nothing else the highest rated business will come up.. Julie your fluff article did a disservice to the business in Hercules and Pinole, to Yelp, and the people who live in the area.
Julie April 10, 2013 at 11:44 am
Umm, are you making reference to my comment on this article? Cause what you have written doesn't…Read More make sense, my "Fluff article"? I didn't write this. Did you mean Lauren Gibbs, the author of the article? Or are you meaning to say my "Fluff" comment. I haven't done a disservice to a single thing by telling people to go to Yelp themselves and write more reviews. I was not saying that business HAVE to put themselves up, I didn't not say that at all.

Once again the Patch gets it wrong. They seem to have no ability to gather facts.
The Safeway…Read More offering, even for the urban design is not a multi story plan, unless you consider rooftop parking to be a story. The presentations that Safeway has given are for a one story building with open parking on the roof.
They have also presented the idea of including surface parking next to it which defeats the whole point behind the rooftop parking design. They have also offered a strip mall next to the parking, under "newspeak" terminology calling it a "shopping plaza".
Let's just hope they don't hijack the adjacent property's plans by stealing the Chick-Fil-A and the iHop.

Wait, there was park there?! Now that I think about it, that land should be the location for a…Read More school and REAL park, with soccer, tennis, baseball. Benches lining the stream.. That is the best use of that land. None of that exists in the waterfront and there is no room anywhere else, except SC, Parcel C or the Corporation yard. So which one will it be? Bayside and much of the water front was built without backyards and there are only postage stamp sized parklettes with play areas for toddlers. There are so many missing pieces in Hercules so called "city plan". Now with talk of closing the teen center which is on the otherside of town, where will they go? There are no parks for them west of San Pablo.

I too, would appreciate more quality, less of the stuff making America fat!

I've heard that loud music makes you want to eat more and leave faster, whereas classical music made…Read More folks eat less, and slower. I think it meshes well with what you're saying, Jon Jay!

Pinole/Hercules folks......We must continue to be loyal to our
friends at the RED ONION!!!!!!!!!…Read More They are our local business!!!
These big national businesses come to town and ruin the small
town business infrastructures. They do not give a damn about
the small business.. They are all about big marketing, and their bottom
line. I hope that everyone pays dues to our local continues to do so.

It's strange how the company says it will save money with all the money it is collecting by getting…Read More rid of few workers sometimes technology does not pay.

I believe that the purpose of a service is to provide something of value, not just to employ people…Read More in a task that can be easily accomplished by a piece of equipment or machinery. Riveting was replaced by welding, we don’t need buggy whip makers anymore because we use cars in lieu of horse drawn carriages and sheet rock and tape replaced the people who used to apply plaster in buildings. At one time perhaps a quarter to a third of our population was on the farm and they were replaced by machinery. It’s called progress.

Rumor has it Pinole Valley Shopping Center is getting a '5 Guys Burgers' and 'Yogurtland'. Any truth…Read More to this? If so, it's good news for Pinole, but another black eye for Hercules' city manager not marketing our town.

I had no idea that metal bowls make them turn brown faster. I'm a huge avocado lover. Great info,…Read More thank you!

Well, I can understand why The Expendables 2 is in the #1 slot. But I am not sure I understand why…Read More The Expendables 2 on BluRay is in the #8 spot.
And really, you would think that The Raven would be at least #15 and that Snow White and the Huntsmen would have done better than Magic Mike.
But in in event it is good that we finally have a source for this information.
