Truly, the participants should boycott the race over this asinine backpack ban. I'm not a runner,…Read More but I would do so if I had previously had plans to attend this event.
But I already boycott doing any business in SF over the unconstitutional red light cameras and the OUTRAGEOUS fines that they have imposed for these pernicious, non-human devices so I guess this is just another reason to not visit SF.

Your lack of accurate information is significant and makes your comments have little, if any, credibility.
The homeless will not disappear in California due to the strong support of vagrants by liberals and socialist local governments like San Francisco.

My good friend, Tony Dudum, was recently assaulted by a homeless man in front of his restaurant…Read More McCoveys. Tony is a warm and generous man and his family has done a lot for Walnut Creek. All I know is our downtown has become inundated with aggressive transients over the past 3-4 years. These are not down and out working people but rather intoxicated, pushy, drugged out lawbreakers that make people not want to come downtown. I'm frustrated with the lack of attention the City Council places on issues like this and public safety overall. Their inattention and cuts to the police department have led to the ever worsening environment downtown where an elderly man can be assaulted in broad daylight outside his own business. Wake up city leaders or resign and make way for someone who can do the job right!

I believe that the purpose of a service is to provide something of value, not just to employ people…Read More in a task that can be easily accomplished by a piece of equipment or machinery. Riveting was replaced by welding, we don’t need buggy whip makers anymore because we use cars in lieu of horse drawn carriages and sheet rock and tape replaced the people who used to apply plaster in buildings. At one time perhaps a quarter to a third of our population was on the farm and they were replaced by machinery. It’s called progress.

Paying a person to 'buy' their time to come to your home, or ?? to care for your most beloved…Read More valuable in Life, is all a matter left to the Parent. Sure, you can review the guidelines set by some averages, areas, and calculations, but,,, bottom line is, it is what is within your budget and the agreement you have between you and your provider. If you want a credentialed nurse, teacher or professional, to come in, you will be paying more than you will be by hiring a high school student. I am a Caregiver/Nanny, my rates depend on the situation. I am a Mother/Grandmother, CPR/FirstAid certified and have a mile long list of experience and references. Personally, I will not work on a basis of a flat fee and variable hours. My time is charged by the time I spend, my duties, etc. Each party should communicate and agree on all aspects of responsibilities and payment. Taking care of someone's child is the most important job I have ever had. The Responsibility of it is Immense! If you are looking for someone to care for your Baby, whether 3 months, or 12 years old, please be sure that their PRIORITY is that Child, and NOT anything else! Check references and background, and when you are happy with that individual's care, please show them you are. They are there because they need the money. A few dollars shows your Caregiver that you Appreciate them, and if you can not spare that extra couple of bucks, you may want to rethink leaving your loved one with anyone at all...

In addition to being a mother of three, I'm a formerly credentialed elementary school teacher,…Read More trained Girl Scout Leader, Sunday school teacher and respite care giver for those with special needs. To pay me the $10.50 an hour this calculator suggests for my area would be a slap in the face to me. I don't just sit around and watch children (of any age) watch TV or play computer games. I play and work with children, thus leaving them better off for having spent time with me. I'm currenly watching a ten-year-old two weeks a month, and am currently teaching her how to sew and bake homemade bread. The $12.00 an hour I charge is well worth it for the time I put in. I strongly feel that the amount paid for any child care job should be calculated based on the providers' training, experience, and how they spend their time with children.

Well, my post was deleted by the editors a few weeks ago, and believe me, it was not even as…Read More devisive as the two posts I was responding to. It made no sense whatsoever.
But, I am not here to cause arguments or getting into finger pointing. I really come to the Patch to get information. I don't like the format. It is hard to see what people are writing about. I like the format on claycord.com better.

Watching wonderful people who write get slammed and slandered by people who do not agree with their…Read More views is a huge turnoff. Not into it. Nor am I into the slamming of council people or citizens based on their views or opinions. Not right.
There is a contingent who do this, especially in the Hercules area. They degrade council people and residents who are not like minded. There is absolutely no "agreeing to disagree". At all. With this group, it turns into 'my way or the highway".
While saying no names, all I can say is the Patch becomes one sided with this contingent, and constructive dialog cannot be reached. As in NEVER. Many have tried to screen and delete opinions and comments. To NO avail.
The ultimate is seeing a former Patch commenter rendered silent by a current council person in Hercules. People will say, freedom of speech is an amendment and trumps all, BUT, Mr. or Ms. opinion person, what if this happened to you as what happened to Mr. Von Aspern? Until it happens to you personally, you will never understand the implications.
At the moment, I find the Patch irrelevant because it does not remove nor edit heinous posts by people who refuse to have constructive discussion, who slam council members, and say it's their right to do so. Whatever. Don't know about Pinole, but with this new council, Hercules is going to hell.
Patrick Rei January 9, 2013 at 04:08 pm

Wouldn't the city be liable for any injuries sustained at the skate park??? Is it really that…Read More difficult to build? Has anybody reached out to Red Bull for funding???
kp February 21, 2013 at 01:22 am
The tennis courts were in the budget and on the agenda much longer than the skate park.. funds have…Read More been cut and diverted from there as well. Bottom line there just is not enough funding for all of the recreational activities in Pinole.
It would also be nice if there were an area with night lighting besides the tennis courts. Since it is the only venue with lighting soccer players, skaters, and other groups utilize it; ruining the playing surface an. d the nets, which then requires more money to just keep it playable.

I currently own a black Lab, it also has a sweet loving personality, but it has an underlying intensity that, I think, makes it a better hunting dog. Not to mention, the Labs coat doesn't pick up burrs like the Goldens did. Goldens and Labs make great family pets, however if the dog is strictly a pet I'd give the nod to the Golden. On the other hand if there is a duck hunter in the family I'd pick the Lab. Did I mention how sweet and trustworthy pit bulls are-----------------just kidding!
