Founded in 1983 to help autistic citizens enjoy productive and fulfilling lives, the California Autism Foundation occupies a giant warehouse space off of the Richmond Parkway. The foundation offers aid to autistic people to assist them in finding homes and careers. It supports an  assembly and packaging facility as well as a day program, schools, job programs and supported living.
