Hercules High Loses In Overtime; Pinole Valley Gets Crushed In Football Season Openers

Both teams begin the 2013 football campaign with defeats

One game was close. One wasn't.

Hercules High School opened its 2013 football season by losing, 35-28, in overtime to Acalanes High in Lafayette.

Hercules led 21-7 at halftime, but the Dons fought back, tying the score at 28-all with 37 seconds left in regulation.

Acalanes then scored in overtime for the victory.

Hercules, last year's league champions, will play Mission High School next Friday on their home field.

Meanwhile, Pinole Valley High was shellacked 51-7 by Montgomery High in Santa Rosa.

The Spartans will play Oakland Tech next Friday on their home field.
