Is Your High School Student Ready for College?

Hercules and Pinole Valley miss the cut in a new report rates the best high schools in the state

Hercules and Pinole Valley high schools were unranked among the Best High Schools in California for 2012, as announced Tuesday by US News and World Report magazine.

A three-step process determines the news magazine's Best High Schools ranking. The first two steps ensured that the schools serve all of their students well, using performance on state proficiency tests as the benchmarks. For those schools that made it past the first two steps, a third step assessed the degree to which schools prepare students for college-level work.

The clear winner was Pacific Collegiate School in Santa Cruz, listed as the best high school in California. Pacific just missed finishing in the top 10 nationally of Best High Schools, ranked number eleven.
