Check out these two homes that are selling for less than $450,000

Home prices continue to surge in the Bay Area as they cool off a bit elsewhere.

The median price for a home in the nine-county Bay Area jumped to $585,000 in August, a 36 percent increase from the year before.

The price of a home can vary greatly from ZIP code to ZIP code, so we'd thought we'd take a look at houses on the market that are priced close to each community's median price.

In Pinole, there's this three-bedroom, two-bathroom house at 1452 Greenfield Circle that's listed at $315,000.

The home, built in 1985, is 1,489 square feet and sits on a tenth of an acre.

In Hercules, there's this four-bedroom, two-bathroom house at 415 Violet Road that's listed at $430,000.

The home, built in 1978, is 1,673 square feet and sits on more than a quarter of an acre.
