Homes For Sale Near Transit In West Contra Costa

Studies conclude that homes near trains, buses and other transportation have higher values than houses that aren't close to transportation

If a home is near a BART station or a bus stop, it's likely to have a higher value than a house that isn't.

Several studies this year have concluded a nearby transit stop will boost the price of a home.

These studies focused on metropolitan areas where mass transit is more readily available and more in demand than in suburban areas.

However, with this week's contract negotiations for both BART and AC Transit employees, we thought we'd take a look at some of the houses for sale in this region that are near transit.

In El Cerrito, this three-bedroom, two-bathroom home at 7235 Schmidt Lane is close to both BART and bus service.

The home is 1,816 square feet and sits on an eighth of an acre. It's listed at $625,000.

In Pinole, this six-bedroom, three-bathroom home at 3055 Simas Ave. is about a mile and a half from bus service, including buses that take riders to Richmond BART.

The house is 2,475 square feet and sits on a seventh of an acre. It's listed at $465,000.
