Update: Four Potential Candidates for School Board Election

Two more took out nomination papers Friday.

So far, four people have indicated that they might be running for seats on the West Contra Costa Unified School District governing board, according to the county elections division.

Incumbent Antonio Medrano, retired school principal Randall Enos, Robert Studdiford and Todd Groves have requested the nomination papers that are required to file for the Nov. 6 election. The seats occupied by Medrano and Tony Thurmond expire this year. As of Friday Thurmond had not taken out papers.

Incumbents and challengers have until Aug. 10 to return a filing fee and valid signatures of supporters to qualify for the ballot. If at least one incumbent does not file by then, the deadline for challengers to file will be extended to Aug. 17.

The four-year terms of seats on the five-member board are staggered by election year.
