Ribbon Cutting for HOV Lane Tuesday

Caltrans will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the carpool lane on Tuesday morning. Mayor Joanne Ward is expected to be in attendance.

WHAT: Ribbon-cutting ceremony for opening of the new carpool lane on
eastbound Interstate 80, from State Route 4 to the Carquinez Bridge.

WHEN: Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 10 a.m.

WHERE: Adjacent to the Eastbound I-80 Cummings Skyway on-ramp in Rodeo, Calif. Guests will be shuttled to the event location from the Caltrans Maintenance facilty at 1369 Willow Ave., Hercules, Calif.

WHO: Bijan Sartipi, Caltrans Director, District 4 Amy Rein Worth, Vice Chair, Metropolitan Transportation Commission and Councilmember, City of Orinda Paul Fontana, Assistant Chief, California Highway Patrol Joanne Ward, Mayor, City of Hercules Mike Ghilotti, President/Treasurer, Ghilotti Brothers, Inc.

WHY: This is the final HOV lane project to continue the HOV lane from the Bay Bridge to the Carquinez Bridge. The project will reduce congestion and delay during peak periods for eastbound Interstate 80 congestion from State Route 4 to the Carquinez Bridge.
