Swearingen Officially Running for Re-election

Councilman filed papers to run for another term on the Pinole City Council.

Pinole City Councilman Roy Swearingen on Wednesday filed the papers necessary to place his name on the Nov. 6 ballot for re-election, according to the Pinole City Clerk's office.

Swearingen is the first candidate to formally declare a candidacy. Incumbent Peter Murray has taken out nomination papers but has yet to return them. Potential challengers Ivette Ricco and Sheila Grist also have requested nomination papers but have yet to file for the election.

Candidates have until Aug. 10 to submit filing fees and signatures from supporters that are required to qualify for the ballot.
