State Gives Rescinded Hercules Grant Back

Hercules is set to get its $1.8 million Chelsea Westlands restoration grant back.

 

After a $1.8 million grant to restore Hercules’ Chelsea Wetlands, the state gave the city its grant money back, the Contra Costa Times reported Tuesday

The grant would be administered by Ducks Unlimited Inc., and an agreement on the issue will go before the city council Tuesday.

“The city would be responsible for operation and maintenance once the project is complete, as it would have been under the original grant from the California Natural Resources Agency,” the Times reported.
