Pinole City Manager's Report: Budget Status, Improved Traffic Flow and More

This weekly report also includes information on golf tournament and big garage sale fundraiser fundraisers.

As the future of city government goes, the number crunching is coming down to to concrete decisions. Pinole City Manager Belinda Espinosa's weekly report alerts residents that city council consideration and possible adoption of the 2012-13 budget is scheduled for Tuesday's council meeting.

City staff are presenting to the city council one budget that assumes November voter approval of extending the 8 percent utility users tax and one without the tax revenue. At stake are about 14 city jobs and subsidies for the city's Cable TV stations and recreation department.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the council chamber. It will be broadcast live on Pinole TV.

The report announces that the Metropolitan Transportation Commission has approved a grant application for synchronizing traffic signals along Pinole Valley Road, Fitzgerald Drive, and Appian Way. The project is expected to improve traffic flow at the Interstate 80 freeway ramps in the city.

Expinosa also reminds residents about a June 23 city-wide garage sale to raise money for the Pinole Youth Center and a July 16 golf tournament to raise funds for Pinole recreation programs.
