Patch Guide: Crisis In Hercules

Coverage, in-depth analysis and community discussion about what's happening at Hercules City Hall.

Hercules City Hall is in turmoil. A Grand Jury report in June 2010, titled The Crumbling Pillars of Hercules, slammed officials for appearances of impropriety. The city manager's office has been a revolving door. Voters booted two incumbent city council members in November 2010, the mayor resigned in January and the two remaining members of the old guard were ousted in a June 2011 recall. Meanwhile, the city's got a financial mess that has meant layoffs for its workers, the cancellation of events such as Fourth of July festivities and a reduction in services to residents.

Hercules Patch is following the crisis with news stories and analysis, reader commentary and more.

Exactly what I thought: a little slap on a few faces and that will be it.

MAY HERCULES REST IN PEACE !

Hercules won't rest. Too many things to do to solve our issues.

WE HAVE THE BEST GOVERNMENT THAT MONEY CAN BUY !
Susan D.Keeffe February 21, 2011 at 06:54 PM
Mr. Windemere, With all due respect, please give your "may Hercules rest in peace" a rest. And please stop the shouting on line which is what writing in all capitols means. You have made your bitterness and cynicisms abundently clear. We get it. We are moving on. It is time to focus on the coming election and reform. Join us if you can or, as I have stated here and previously, please "give it a rest". Thank you,
