Victor Stallone Pulls Papers for City Council Recall Race

Another resident took out nomination papers Monday to run in the Hercules City Council recall election, bringing the total to five candidates.

Victor Stallone is the fifth resident to take out nomination papers to run for the seats of Hercules City Council members Joanne Ward and Don Kuehne, who face a in June.

Stallone, who entered the early stages of the race Monday, joins William Wilkins, Virgilio delaVega, Gerard Boulanger and Tomasz Bednarz, who papers last week.

Potential candidate must specify which seat they plan to run for when pulling papers. Wilkins and delaVega seek to unseat Ward, while Stallone, Boulanger and Bednarz look to replace Kuehne.

The city clerk must verify that at least 20 registered Hercules voters signed the petition for nomination before that candidate can be placed on the June 7 election ballot. If there are not enough valid signatures, candidate hopefuls have until March 24 at 5 p.m., when all nomination papers are due, to file supplemental signed petitions.
