The Pinole Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Committee will look at circulation at the middle and high schools and speeding on Simas Avenue at its Tuesday night meeting. The committee will hear reports about traffic circulation associated with the pending and a proposal to create a new crosswalk on Appian Way between Mann Drive and San Pablo Avenue.
The committee will be asked to give direction to city staff about the West Contra Costa Unified School District's plans for making modifications to traffic patterns during the high school construction, which is scheduled to begin in March 2013. The committee will receive a school district report on the plans.
Meanwhile, city staff are recommending against adding a "mid-block" crosswalk near the middle school.
Pinole Public Works Director Dean Allison is expected to present a report on "traffic calming" for Simas Avenue.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall, 2131 Pear Street.
