Letter to the Editor: Pinole Chamber's Efforts in Old Town

Artwork and lights at Bank of Pinole are in place, while a sign for "Community Corner" is on the way in a beautification vision.

The Pinole Chamber of Commerce has a vision to beautify Historic Old Town Pinole.

In 2011 we spearheaded the effort to remove the "ugly green fence" on the corner of San Pablo and Tennent avenues and to replace it with landscaping. That corner has been dubbed the "Community Corner".

In 2012 an iconic sign will be constructed and placed on that corner, to welcome everyone to Old Town. This will be done with the help and support of several community organizations, including the Lions, the Rotary, and the Pinole Artisans, using Councilmember Tim Banuelos' original design.

This week the Pinole Artisans placed art work in the windows (inside) of the  currently vacant Bank of Pinole building. The Artisans also placed small white lights around the windows to further enhance Old Town's appearance.

Working together with the City, the Council and members of the business community, the Chamber hopes to continue to to beautify Old Town.

When you happen to walk or drive by the Pinole Bank Building on San Pablo Avenue, stop and take a look at the artwork the Pinole Artisans have placed there for everyone in Old Town to enjoy.
