Letter to the Editor: Carson Street Landslide Forces Home Demolition

Carson Street resident Billy Vogele writes in about the landslide that has continues to claim homes on his street.

-By Billy Vogele

In case nobody noticed, a home was demolished on Carson Street (Thursday).  A sad sight to see.  Take yourself back to 1989 and imagine the brand new homes and fresh landscapes lining this street.  Imagine the hopes and dreams of the family who bought and moved into that house.  Now fast forward to today, and see those hopes and dreams sitting there in a rubble pile.

What remains today are three vacant homes, two vacant lots where homes once stood, and a throbbing giant on the slope above, waiting to unleash itself when winter comes.  City Hall unfortunately, wants to pretend that it’s exclusively the problem of the HOA, and that they have bigger fish to fry.  Yet on this street, in this particular part of town, the problem of this landslide is the biggest fish; a great white if you will, which is hovering up there and waiting for the prime moment to slide down and gobble up more homes.  Again I ask, where is the leadership in city hall regarding this matter.
