Hercules Planning Director Retires

Dennis Tagashira, worked for the City of Hercules for 18 years, had worked his last day for the city Thursday.

Dennis Tagashira retired Thursday after 18 years of serving the City of Hercules, according to a post on the Hercules CA Facebook page, which is run by resident and Planning Commissioner Mike Bowermaster.

Tagashira served as director of the city's Planning Department.

His bio was posted on the page: "With a long career in municipal planning departments, Dennis moved from the City of Downey to work at the City of Baldwin Park, the City of El Monte, the City of Glendora, the City of Moreno Valley, and finally the City of Oxnard.

"Dennis first heard about Hercules when our community development director Gary Hembree came recruiting to Oxnard. With an interest in better heath, the Tagashiras departed the smog of the L.A. basin, and headed to Hercules in 1994..." the page read.
