Hercules City Council Approves 2013-2014 Budget
The $12.6 million spending plan was buoyed by the passage of Measure A
Hercules has an official budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
The City Council on Tuesday night approved a $12.6 million spending plan for the 2013-2014 fiscal year, which begins on Monday.
The budget is $300,000 less than the proposed budget that was presented earlier this month after Hercules voters approved Measure A, which increased the city's utility user tax from 6 percent to 8 percent.
The approved budget lists $12,585,751 in general fund revenues and $12,580,206 in general fund expenses. That leaves a surplus of $5,545.
There is also a $17.5 million separate capital improvement budget, paid for with funds specified for individual projects.
The Intermodal Transit Center Bayfront project takes up $13.6 million of that budget. Sewage system repairs are allocated $2.3 million while street and sidewalk maintenance receives $1.4 million. Park and recreation projects are listed at $70,000.
