Federal Official Says Chevron Fire Could Mean New Regulations

An audit in response to the refinery fire also could lead to prosecution of the oil company by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Continuing investigation of the Aug. 6 Chevron oil refinery fire could lead to federal regulation reform and possibly to prosecution of the company, according to a Contra Costa Times article.

The Times quoted members of the U.S. Chemical Safety Board the federal Environmental Protection Agency who spoke during a public meeting at Richmond City Hall on Monday.

Representatives of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and the county health department also attended the meeting.
