Commission Seeks Project Ideas for Community Service Day

Community Services Commission is organizing second annual city-wide volunteer effort.

The Pinole Community Services Commission is asking non-profit groups, service clubs and other organizations to identify projects for the second annual Community Service Day.

In June, 2011 more than 250 volunteers participated in the three-hour event, clearing debris from the San Pablo Bay shore, painting inside the Pinole Youth Center and beautifying various locations. They also visited elderly residents at retirement centers and pitched in on improvements to "Community Corner," which is the vacant lot at the intersection of San Pablo and Tennent avenues.

Once a list of projects are compiled, the commission will call for volunteers to participate.
