City to Hold Budget Workshop

The workshop will be held Thursday, Mar. 22 at 2 p.m.

Hercules city staff will lead a general fund budget workshop Thursday at City Hall. City Council members and the Citizen's Finance Ad Hoc Advisory Committee will attend.

The workshop will likely include a rundown of the city’s current budget, where it stands with revenues and expenditures, the implications of this year’s cuts and the tentative schedule to get an approved budget in June, City Manger Steve Duran said in an email. The workshop will also cover what the council’s proposed sales tax increase would mean for the city and its residents.

Hercules is dealing with a $1.6 million structural deficit. City staff will attempt to trip that amount as it enters into the 2012-13 fiscal year.
