Truck Fire Breaks Out in Hercules Storage Yard

The fire at Bayberry Storage Yard was reported at 11:33 a.m., according to Battalion Chief Bryan Craig, a spokesman for the Rodeo Hercules Fire District.

Hercules (BCN) - A big rig caught fire at a Hercules storage yard Saturday in a blaze that threatened to spread to nearby trucks, fire officials said.

The fire at Bayberry Storage Yard was reported at 11:33 a.m., according to Battalion Chief Bryan Craig, a spokesman for the Rodeo Hercules Fire District.

The big rig was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, and two nearby tractor trailers were also beginning to catch fire, Craig said.

The fire was extinguished, and the county hazardous materials unit removed the remaining fuel from the truck's tanks and cleaned up runoff from the area, Craig said.

Wow, thankfully the firefighters arrived just in time before the fire spread, or for there to be a huge explosion. It could have resulted in a high number of casualties. Luckily, no one was injured, even though the trailers have started to catch on fire. I wish it states how the fire was started though. Being at a storage area, there shouldn’t be too much hazardous materials. I figure this was most likely caused by smoking? http://storageinnerwest.blogspot.com/
