Rodeo-Hercules Fire District Going After Grant Pinole Rejected

The district is pursuing the $1.24 million federal SAFER grant

What Pinole doesn't want, the Rodeo-Hercules Fire District is apparently happy to take.

The district is pursuing a $1.24 million grant that Pinole city officials rejected last month, according to a story in the Contra Costa Times.

The Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant was scheduled to be used by Pinole to re-open a shuttered fire station.

Rep. Mike Thompson (D-Napa) is looking into whether the Rodeo-Hercules Fire District can step in as the grant recipient, according to the Times.
