Pinole Police Warn Residents About Spike in Auto Burglaries

Larceny thefts from vehicles rose in 2012, but the total was half of what it was 10 years ago.

Press release from the Pinole Police Department:

The Pinole Police Department is reporting an increase in auto burglaries throughout the city. We want to alert you to the crime, and request that while visiting local businesses your vehicle is kept locked and no items of value are left in plain view.

The Pinole Police Department needs your help to reduce auto burglaries. When cars are burglarized, people suffer the loss of property and damage to their vehicles.

Surprisingly, auto stereos are not the main targets of thieves; they are looking for easily removed items of value.
