Pinole Man Arrested in Connection With Tara Hills Fatal Shooting

Michael McQueen, 28, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder.

A Pinole man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in the unincorporated community of Tara Hills near San Pablo last month, a sheriff's spokesman said today.

The U.S. Marshals Service located and arrested fugitive Michael McQueen, 28, in Sonoma on Wednesday afternoon for allegedly shooting and killing 24-year-old Nicholas Callen on March 31, according to Contra Costa County sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee. McQueen was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and was taken to county jail in Martinez, where he is being held on $1 million bail.

His arrest came weeks after he allegedly shot and killed Callen, who was found suffering from a gunshot wound at a home in the 2600 block of Cornelius Drive in Tara Hills, according to Lee.
