Man Fatally Shot in Tara Hills Home Identified as Pinole Resident

Nicholas Callen, 24, was found shot in the 2600 block of Cornelius Drive

A man who was shot dead in the unincorporated community of Tara Hills on Monday has been identified as 24-year-old Nicholas Callen of Pinole, a sheriff's spokesman said today.

The shooting happened around 2:50 p.m. Monday at a home in the 2600 block of Cornelius Drive, according to Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office spokesman Jimmy Lee.
 
Deputies arrived to find Callen suffering from a gunshot wound. Lee said deputies performed CPR on him but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Detectives today continue to follow leads to identify a suspect and establish a motive for the killing, the spokesman said.
 
No arrests have been made in connection with the homicide.
