Ko was found unconscious with multiple stab wounds in her home the night of Oct. 5, and died at the scene. She was found by neighbors, who checked on her after she failed to show up at the airport, where she was due to pick up her husband.

Her car was missing at the time, and it was ultimately the vehicle that helped lead police to her suspected killers.

Darnell Washington, 24, and his wife Tania Washington, 25, were spotted Oct. 10 in the blue Subaru Outback in SeaTac, Wash. They were arrested after a high-speed chase that ended when Darnell allegedly attempted to ram police cars boxing him in, according to police.

Authorities believe the pair, from King County, Wash., went on a crime spree after Tania helped Darnell escape from the San Bernardino County Jail on Aug. 28.

The two allegedly shot a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy on Sept. 2, and fled the area by allegedly carjacking at least two vehicles, according to police.

Ko was the principal of Hilltop Chinese School and an elementary school teacher at St. Patrick's School Rodeo. She is survived by her husband and four adult children.
