A Richmond man was arrested after he was allegedly caught trying
to burglarize an apartment in Hercules on Saturday, police said Tuesday.
Police said a woman called 911 around 9:05 a.m. on Saturday to
report that she had just arrived home to find a man inside her apartment in
the 100 block of Civic Drive.
After he was unable to exit the home through a window, the suspect
ran past the resident and out the front door, according to police.
The woman told police that she had seen the man in the building
Police located a man matching the suspect description and the victim
positively identified him.
Police said the suspect, 56-year-old Kenneth Silmon, was taken to
the Hercules Police Department for further questioning and later arrested on
suspicion of burglary.
