Hercules Woman Finds Burglar in Her Apartment

The suspect ran past the victim and out the front door.

A Richmond man was arrested after he was allegedly caught trying to burglarize an apartment in Hercules on Saturday, police said Tuesday.

Police said a woman called 911 around 9:05 a.m. on Saturday to report that she had just arrived home to find a man inside her apartment in the 100 block of Civic Drive. After he was unable to exit the home through a window, the suspect ran past the resident and out the front door, according to police.

The woman told police that she had seen the man in the building before.

Police located a man matching the suspect description and the victim positively identified him.

Police said the suspect, 56-year-old Kenneth Silmon, was taken to the Hercules Police Department for further questioning and later arrested on suspicion of burglary.

He was taken to county jail in Martinez and released on bail the same day.
