Hercules Police Weekend Blotter: Embezzlement, Burglary, Runaways

The following items are selected and written by the Hercules Police Department. They reflect only a partial list of calls for service between Sept. 19 and Sept. 22.

Thursday, Sept. 19

Warrant Pick-Up: On Sept. 19, at 7:30 a.m. an officer responded to Alameda County Jail to pick up 50 year old Marcus Ramon Peppard IV of Berkeley regarding a “failure to comply with order of probation” warrant concerning a 2011 felony burglary case from this agency. Peppard was picked up and booked into Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Pick-Up: On Sept. 19 at about 11:05 a.m.  an officer responded to the Napa County Jail to pick up 26 year old Aaron Gilmet of Napa regarding a “failure to comply with order of probation” warrant concerning a 2012 felony auto theft case from this agency. Gilmet was picked up and transported to Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest: On Sept. 19 at 8:49am, an officer stopped a vehicle in the 1500 block of Sycamore. The officer was aware that he driver, 46 year old Roger Dean Curlee of Hercules had a $45,000 felony warrant for burglary and petty theft with priors. The charges are a result of 2013 arrest by this agency.  Curlee was transported to Martinez Detention Facilty.

Residential Burglary: On Sept. 19  at 1:15pm an officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Boxwood for a report of a residential burglary. The resident reported that sometime between 9/18/13 at 9:00pm and 9/19/13 at 1:00pm, someone entered his garage and stole several items. The point of entry was “body force” entry through the exterior door leading to the garage.

Friday, Sept. 20

Petty Theft: On Sept. 20 at 8:24am, an officer was dispatched to the Police Department for a lobby detail. The victim reported that sometime between 9/18/13 at 8:00pm and 8:00am this morning someone stole a $200 laptop from her unlocked vehicle, in the 100 block of Civic Drive. The vehicle was parked in front of her residence.

Oral Copulation: On Sept. 20 at 9:13am, an officer was notified of an incident involving a fifteen year old male and 14 year old female that occurred yesterday. The two teenagers both agreed to engage in an unlawful sexual act on the Hercules Middle High School campus. A case was taken to be forwarded to the District Attorneys’ Office.

Embezzlement: On Sept. 20 at 12:29pm, an officer was dispatched to 500 Alfred Nobel for a report of theft of prescription pads. The victim received a call from a Target store regarding possible fraudulent prescription orders from his dental office.  The victim believes an ex-employee stole one or several of his prescription pad(s) and is writing bogus prescriptions. A case was taken for investigation.

Runaway Juvenile: On Sept. 20 at 1:19pm, an officer responded to Pinnacle Court for a runaway juvenile report. The resident said her 16 year old daughter ran away two days ago. She possibly went to her dad’s house in Antioch.

72-Hour Mental Health Evaluation: On Sept. 20 2013, at 5:44pm, officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Pheasant regarding a 911 call transferred from CHP. The caller told dispatch that she had been assaulted. Officer made contact with the reporting party and determined she was off her medication and met the criteria for a mental health evaluation. It was determined she had not been assaulted.

Saturday, Sept. 21

Miscellaneous Information: On Sept. 21 at 9:29am, an officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Paradise regarding an out of control juvenile. The caller told dispatch her 12 year old son, who suffers from severe depression, was hitting her. After speaking with the juvenile, his mother and his two siblings, it was determined that no crime had occurred.

Strong Arm Robbery: On Sept. 21 at 4:57pm, officers were dispatched to a business in the 1600 block of Sycamore for panic alarm. Dispatch received a 911 call from the same business regarding and irate customer. 22 year old Roland Simmons of Hercules entered the business to pay a bill, which led to an argument between him and the store employee. During the argument, Simmons grabbed the store employee by the neck, threw items around the store, took cell phones from the store and left. Simmons was detained outside the store and subsequently arrested for robbery and transported to Martinez Detention Facility.

Altering an Airsoft Gun/Probation Violation: On Sept. 21 at 10:50pm an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a black 1996 Chevy Suburban for a vehicle code violation in the 4000 block of San Pablo Ave. It was determined that the driver, 33 year old Crispulo Fernandez of Pinole was on probation for narcotics violations, with a search clause. During a search of his vehicle, a black 1911 style firearm was discovered between the driver’s seat and center console. Upon further examination it was determined that the firearm was an airsoft gun that had the orange tip painted over. Fernandez was placed under arrest for the possession of the modified airsoft gun and being in violation of his probation. Fernandez was transported to Martinez Detention Facility.

Sunday, Sept. 22

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol/Probation Violation: On Sept. 22 at 2:56am an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a silver 2004 Toyota Solara for a vehicle code violation in the 1200 block of Willow Ave. The driver, 31 year old Tiffany Shanae Blackmon of Rodeo displayed the objective symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. It was also discovered that she was on probation for a previous DUI. After a DUI investigation she was placed under arrest for DUI, the probation violation and she was transported to HPD for a blood draw.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle: On Sept. 22 at 5:06am an officer was checking an unoccupied suspicious vehicle in the 3600 block of San Pablo Avenue. It was determined that the vehicle, a green 1995 Honda Del Sol was reported stolen to Pinole PD on 09-21-13. The car owner responded to the scene and took possession of the vehicle.

Coroner’s Case: On Sept. 22 8:42am, an officer was dispatched to the 400 block of Turquoise for a 64 year old female who was not breathing. The fire department also responded and pronounced the female deceased. The coroner was contacted and they released the body to the family.

Found Property: A purse was found last week behind a dumpster in a parking lot in the 800 block of Willow Avenue. The owner was identified by items in the purse and attempts to return the purse are being done.

Missing / Runaway Juvenile: On Sept. 22 at 10:03pm a resident from Edinburgh Court called to report her sister missing. The 17 year old female left a text stating don’t try and find me. She left the family a message stating not to look for her and she would be back for her belongings in a couple of days. The next night the 17 year old female called police and said she wanted to go home but her family would not let her return. Officers returned her home, mediated, and removed the juvenile from the missing persons’ system.

Possession of Methamphetamine: On Sept. 22, at 11:20pm an officer stopped 39 year old Hugo Cazares, of Richmond, on John Muir Parkway at I-80. Cazares was found be on searchable probation for vandalism and a stolen vehicle. During a probation search of Cazares suspected methamphetamine was located on his person. Cazares was arrested and transported to Martinez Detention Facility.
