Hercules Police Log: Mail Theft, Auto Burglary And Flying Coffee Cups

Here are some of the items listed on the Hercules police log from June 12 to June 16.

Wednesday, June 12

Mail theft: 
A resident on the 1100 block of Sanderling Drive called police at 10:15 a.m. to report her mail may have been stolen. The woman said her neighbor found her scattered mail on the sidewalk near her home. The victim was concerned a check she left in the mailbox as well as some of her incoming mail may have been taken.

Thursday, June 13

Vehicles collision: Officers responded at 8:02 p.m. to an accident at Sycamore Avenue and Turquoise Drive. Investigators say a 2006 Mercedes in northbound Turquoise collided with a GMC Yukon going eastbound on Sycamore.

Saturday, June 15

Auto burglary: A car owner on the 1100 block of Waverly Circle called police at 11:34 a.m. to report an iPhone 5 had been stolen from her car. Investigators say surveillance video showed a man in his late teens or early 20s wearing a red jacket with white writing smashed the car's windows to get inside.

Caffeinated Road Rage: A driver contacted police at 12:26 a.m. to say another driver had thrown an object at his car. The man said he was driving his 2010 Mercedes westbound on Hercules Avenue when he had to swerve to avoid a 2012 Dodge Charger that backed out of a driveway. The driver honked his horn. He said the female driver of the Charger then pulled up along side his vehicle, yelled at him and threw something at his car. The Charger then drove off. Police later found a dent on the Mercedes' side and an aluminum coffee cup laying nearby on the street.

Sunday, June 16

Child Hits Car: Police responded at 7:43 p.m. to a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident on Paradise Drive. It was determined a 4-year-old boy had run into the side of an Acura Integra that was stopped in the crosswalk. The boy had fallen and scraped his knees.
