Hercules Police Log: Laundry Room Theft, Public Intoxication, Shattered Car Windows

Some of the incidents that kept Hercules police officers busy this past week

Here are some of the items listed on the Hercules Police Department log from Sept. 5 through Sept. 10.

Thursday, Sept. 5

Home burglary: At 11:18 a.m., residents notified police that their home on Crystal Circle had been burglarized recently. An old plasma television and a DVD player were stolen.

Friday, Sept. 6

Intoxicated man arrested: At 10:15 a.m., officers were called to a fast-food restaurant on San Pablo Avenue for a report of a man harassing a female customer. Witnesses told police the man had followed the woman into the business, then threatened to break her nose when she asked him to stop bothering her. Witnesses say the man also yelled at others while inside the restaurant. Police say the 52-year-old Hercules man challenged officers to a fight when they arrived and resisted arrest. He was taken into custody on charges of public intoxication and obstruction of a police officer.

Saturday, Sept. 7

Car window broken: At 4:48 p.m., a woman told police she was driving along the 800 block of Willow Avenue when a rock was thrown from a moving vehicle containing eight juveniles. The rock shattered the passenger side window.

Sunday, Sept. 8

Laundry room theft: At 5:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a condominium complex in the 1200 block of Willow Avenue where residents said a man entered the laundry room, sawed off three coin boxes attached to washing machines and stole an undetermined amount of money.

Public drunkenness: At 8:53 p.m., officers arrested a 45-year-old Richmond man for drunkenness in public after they say he was stumbling around and yelling at cars driving by on 7th near Parker in Rodeo. Officers say the man's blood-alcohol level was .33 percent.

Monday, Sept. 9

Hose stolen: At 7:03 p.m., a resident in the 2000 block of Serra Lane reported that a hose and roller had been stolen earlier that day from his home.

I-80 chase arrest: At 11:33 p.m., Hercules police stopped a 1991 Chevrolet Lumina on the westbound Interstate 80 ramp at John Muir Parkway. Authorities say the motorist eventually drove off, leading police on a high-speed chase along Interstate 80 and 580 before he was eventually arrested. Tuesday, Sept. 10

Burglary at the golf course: At 3:10 p.m., a Fairfield man reported that his Ford F150 has been broken into while it was parked at the Franklin Canyon Golf Course. The passenger side window had been shattered and a briefcase had been stolen. The briefcase was later found in Martinez.
