Hercules Police Log: Fighting Folks, False Gunshots, Illegal Dumping

Here are some of the things that kept Hercules police busy this past week


Following is some of the items from the Hercules Police Department police logs between June 28 and July 3.

Friday, June 28

Jewelry theft: Police were contacted at 1:38 p.m. by a woman who said $50,000 in jewelry was taken from her unlocked car. The woman travels to different cities for her job and didn't know where the theft occurred.

Saturday, June 29

Couples fighting:
Police responded to a fight at 3:55 a.m. on the 600 block of Windsor. Officers found two men and two women who were shoving and hitting each other. Two of the folks have a daughter in common. Minor injuries were reported. Nobody involved wanted to press charges.

Sunday, June 30

DUI arrest: Officers pulled over a 2010 Dodge Charger for speeding at 1:55 a.m. on Willow Avenue near the westbound on-ramp to Interstate 80. The 52-year-old female driver from San Leandro was arrested on charges of driving under the influence.

Monday, July 1

Stolen vehicle: 
Officers were contacted at 6:31 p.m. by a Village Parkway resident who reported his white Ford F-350 was stolen. The vehicle was parked on Village Parkway near Mission Springs when it was taken.

Unwanted visitor: Police were dispatched at 8:56 p.m. to a home in the 200 block of Bobolink. A man was at the front door of the residence. The home's occupant wanted the man to leave. The two had a falling out earlier in the day and the man wanted to continue the discussion. No threats were made and the man agreed to leave.

Tuesday, July 2

False gunshot report: A woman called police at 4:21 p.m. to report she heard gunshots in the 100 block of Pepperwood. Officers arrived and searched the area, but they didn't find any evidence of guns being fired. A woman at the home admitted she called police because her husband wouldn't answer the front door. She said she thought telling police she heard gunshots would bring officers more quickly to her home. Officers collected evidence for the possibility of filing charges against the woman of filing a false report.

Wednesday, July 3

Illegal dumping: Officers were dispatched at 5:17 a.m. to the intersection of Resnick and Shepherd streets for a report of trash laying in the middle of the street. Officers found a check stub among the debris that led them to a home in the 100 block of Cottonwood. Three workers who had cleaned up a foreclosed home were there. The trio returned and cleaned up the mess. Afterward, police determined one of the men, a 30-year-old Sacramento resident, had an outstanding no-bail warrant. He was arrested.
