Hercules Police Calls: ATM Fraud, Mail Theft, Vandalism

The Hercules Police Department selected and wrote the following police blotter items.

Fraud: On Jan. 13 at 10:52 a.m., a Hercules resident came to HPD to make a fraud report. She stated today checked her B of A checking account online and saw someone had made numerous fraudulent cash withdraws, at the Hercules branch.  On 1/11/14, she made a deposit, at the ATM, and remembered feeling uncomfortable because the man, at the machine next to her, was standing very close to her and her ATM machine. She completed her transaction at 2:20 p.m. and the fraudulent cash withdraw occurred at 2:21 p.m. It appears the suspect was able to gain access to her machine before her transaction was fully completed. She described the suspect as a light skinned African American male, 20-30yrs old, over 6’ tall, slim build, had short wavy hair, and was wearing blue jeans with gold embroidery on the rear pockets, and a puffy navy blue jacket. The investigation is continuing.

Stolen Vehicle:  On Jan. 13 at 3:43 p.m. an officer responded to Mechanic’s Bank Operation Center, in the 700 block of Alfred Nobel Dr. to take a report for a stolen vehicle.  The victim reported an unknown suspect stole his Silver ’00 Chevy Camaro, from the parking lot, today between 3:00 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.

Mail Theft:  On Jan. 13 at 6:14 p.m. an officer was dispatched to the 500 block of Bristol Way to take a report for a mail theft.  The victim reported an unknown suspect gained entry into his mailbox and stole his mail.  The theft occurred between the night of 01/10/14 and the morning of 01/11/14.  The mailboxes for two other units were also completely removed and stolen from the wall.

Vandalism and Possible Mail Theft:  On Jan. 13 at 6:19 p.m. a Hercules resident filed an online police report regarding a vandalism and possible mail theft.  The victim, from the Foxboro Downs Home Owners Association, reported an unknown suspect damaged and gained entry to the locked mailboxes located for two of the residences on Chelsea Way.  The reporting party stated this occurred between the night of 01/10/14 and the early morning hours of 01/11/1.

The Hercules BofA ATM was the site of additional incidents involving this perp prior to January. I have reported my own experience that occurred on November 30, (2:30 pm). There were additional witnesses and potential victims on this day. He was also wearing some very colorful (fluorescent green and orange?) shoes, Skechers I believe. He just jumps in your ATM space, leaving another ATM that he previously positioned himself at. And he says nothing, even when you attempt to seek clarification about his strange behavior. He is thin as a rail.
