Hercules Police Blotter: Hit-and-Run, Vandalism, Burglary

November 9

Mental Health Evaluation: On November 9, 2013 at 9:42 PM Hercules officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Sycamore Avenue for a mother fighting with her 12 year-old daughter. The young son on scene called police and stated that his mother was trying to stab his sister with scissors. After speaking with the involved parties regarding the incident officers were unable to confirm the scissors story as the younger brother did not see any scissors. The mother met the needs for a mental health evaluation and was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

November 10

Commercial Burglary:  On November 10, 2013 at 7:29 a.m. Hercules officers were dispatched to a report of a burglary that just occurred at the laundry room of the condos, in the 1200 block of Willow Avenue. The reporting party witnessed 2 male suspects fleeing the laundry room after breaking into the washing machines to steal change. The 2 suspects left in U-Haul pickup truck with a rear Arizona license plate. It was determined entry was made through a window into the laundry room. Two washing machines were cut open. Evidence was collected for investigation.

 Battery on a Peace Officer and Resisting Arrest:  On November 10, 2013 at 11:14 a.m. Hercules Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Iris Road for a report of a man and a woman yelling outside.  The resident reported her son was 20 years old and out of control.  Officers arrived and contacted Clark Sanford of Hercules.  Sanford refused to talk with officers and did not obey orders. While attempting to detain Sanford he fought with officers. Officers sustained minor scrapes and cuts during the arrest. Sanford sustained a cut to his forehead and to the right side of his face.  Sanford was transported the hospital to be medically cleared prior to being transported to jail.

 Vandalism:  On November 10, 2013 at 5:02 p.m. Hercules officers were dispatched to the 100 block of South Wildwood for a disturbance.  The resident called to report that a male was at his house saying he was attacked by another subject. Officers arrived and contacted the 20 year old victim in front of the home. The victim stated that his friend, 19 year old Douglas Devon of Hercules had just gotten into an argument with him and Devon’s girlfriend near Jack in the Box. The victim stated Douglas used his skateboard to hit the right front door of the victim’s car causing a dent. Douglas was contacted and denied striking the car. A case was taken to be forwarded to the DA’s office for prosecution.

Mental Health Evaluation: On November 10, 2013 at 5:31 p.m. Hercules officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Forest Park for a report of a disturbance.  The reporting party stated three people were yelling and screaming. The reporting party stated a male was yelling at a female about being high on drugs.  Officers arrived and contacted the involved parties. Through an investigation it was determined the disturbance was over someone being suicidal. The female was determined to meet the criteria for a psychiatric hold and she was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Mental Health Evaluation: On November 10, 2013 at 9:20 pm Hercules officers were dispatched for an older male walking towards the condos in the 800 block of Willow Avenue. Officers located a 67 year old male in the 1000 block of Chelsea. The male was lying on the ground nude from the waist down stating he was cold. The male was severely intoxicated and needed help to sit up. Brown lives alone and was unable to care for himself, so he was transported to the hospital for a mental health evaluation, by ambulance.

November 11

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol: On November 11, 2013 an officer conducted a traffic stop on 20 year old Alexander Tabang, of Brentwood. Tabang appeared to be under the influence of alcohol so the DUI investigation was initiated. After the investigation Tabang was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Prisoner Transport:  On November 11, 2013 at 7:43 a.m. an officer responded to Alameda County Jail (Santa Rita) to pick up 37 year old Xavier Pittman on our outstanding Misdemeanor Warrant for spousal battery. Pittman was transported to Martinez Detention Facility.

Vandalism:  On November 11, 2013 at 11:08 a.m. a resident from the 200 block of Coronado reported graffiti vandalism. The graffiti was spray painted on a storm drain across the street from the resident’s home. A case was taken for investigation.

Petty Theft and 2 Stolen Vehicles: On November 11, 2013 at 1:35 p.m. an officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Newbury to take a report for two stolen vehicles that were taken between 12:30 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. The victim stated she moved her two vehicles from her home’s driveway so her house could be painted. She said she left two sets of car keys laying on the right front passenger seat of her Black ’03 Ford F-150 (CA LP# 60281D1) with the window partially rolled down.  An unknown suspect(s) gained entry into the truck and stole the two set of car keys. The unknown suspects then stole the following two vehicles:  Black ’06 GMC Envoy (CA LP# 5UOH336) and a Red ’05 Honda Accord (CA LP# 5JWW256). Both vehicles were entered into the stolen vehicle system.

Hit and Run Vehicle Collision:  On November 11, 2013 at 5:48 p.m. officers witnessed vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of Sycamore Avenue and Refugio Valley Road. A Black ’03 Dodge Ram (CA LP# 60456D1) ran the red light for E/B Sycamore Ave. at Refugio Valley Rd. colliding into the driver’s side door of a Black ’02 GMC Yukon. The Yukon was making a left turn from S/B Refugio Valley Rd. onto W/B Sycamore Ave.  The driver of the Yukon stopped and the driver of the Ram fled towards Creekside Shopping Center.  Officers located the Ram stopped to the rear of Home Depot and the driver was detained.  The driver was identified as 36 year old Razidi Wallace of Oakland. Wallace was found to be driving on a suspended driver’s license and has been involved in a prior hit and run collision.  Wallace was arrested for fleeing the scene of the collision and driving with a suspended license.

Driving Under the Influence Collision: On November 11, 2013 at 9:11 pm Hercules Officers were dispatched to Eagle Court for a possible vehicle collision into a residence. Upon arrival officers located 26 year old Kevin Brown. Brown had crashed his Ford Mustang into vehicles parked in a driveway at the end of the court. The impact pushed one of the vehicles into the garage door and the frame work to the left of the door. A DUI investigation was done and Brown was arrested for DUI.

November 12

Recovered Stolen Vehicle: On November 12, 2013 at 8:41 am an officer was dispatched to the 2000 block of Railroad for a reported abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was determined to be a stolen 1992 Nissan Sentra from Berkeley. The vehicle was recovered and towed.

Domestic Battery: On November 12, 2013 at 10:43 am an officer was dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department to meet with a victim of domestic battery. The 20 year old female victim reported she was at her ex-boyfriend’s house to discuss joint bills, in the 200 block of Cinnabar. An argument began and she alleged her ex-boyfriend pinned her against a wall and choked her. She had no visible injuries. The ex-boyfriend was contacted and confirmed the argument, but said he had only tried to restrain her from attacking him. He had scratches to his arm and chest. A case was taken to be forwarded to the DA’s Office.

Warrant Arrest: On November 12, 2013 at 11:21 am an officer contacted 42 year old Oswaldo Nieva, of Hercules, on Canterbury. The officer was aware of an arrest warrant for Nieva’s arrest. Nieva was arrested and transported to jail.

Theft from a Vehicle: On November 12, 2013 at 1:10 pm a citizen reported that an unknown suspect stole medication and a laptop computer from his vehicle. The theft occurred between 9:30 am and 10:30 am while it was parked at Refugio Valley Park. His vehicle appears to have been unlocked at the time of the theft.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle: On November 12, 2013 at 2:33 pm a resident from the Glenwood condo complex reported a vehicle parked in their parking stall. The vehicle was determined to be a stolen vehicle from Hercules. The registered owner of the stolen car was contacted and they responded to take possession of the car. The car was removed from the stolen vehicle system.

Warrant Arrest: On November 12, 2013 at 9:06 pm Hercules officers served San Mateo County’s $150,000 Felony arrest warrant on 27 year old Demarus Allen-Batieste at his residence, in the 1100 block of Cottage Lane. He was located upstairs, arrested and transported to jail.

November 13

Misdemeanor Warrant Arrest: On November 13, 2013 at 12:57 am an officer stopped 25 year old Jose De La Torre on State Route 4 at San Pablo Avenue. During the traffic stop the driver was determined to have two outstanding arrest warrants held by Solano County. The warrants were for theft and drug paraphernalia. The passenger, 20 year old Carinna Medley also had an arrest warrant for theft held by Solano County. Both subjects were arrested and transported to jail.
