Hercules Man Arrested For Armed Robbery At ATM

Officers say the suspect tried to run when they showed up at his job at Walmart

A Hercules man has been arrested for an armed robbery at an ATM last month.

Hercules police say Cornell Miller, 18, was booked into Contra Costa County Jail on charges of armed robbery and second degree burglary for stealing and then attempting to use an ATM card.

Investigators say Miller demanded money after pointing a gun at a man using the Wells Fargo Bank ATM on Sycamore Avenue on July 22.

The man dropped his wallet and Miller picked it up and ran off, authorities said.

Investigators determined someone had tried to use two of the victim's debit cards several times at two different banks that same day.

Authorities say they were able to identify Miller as the suspect during their investigation.

At 7 a.m. Thursday, officers went to Miller's home in the 800 block of Valley Run. The suspect wasn't there at the time, but authorities said they found evidence linking him to the crime.

The officers proceeded to the Walmart store in Richmond where Miller works. Authorities say Miller tried to run when he spotted the officers, but they were able to apprehend him after a short chase.
