Armed Robbery at Chipotle in Pinole: Employees Beaten, Suspects Still at Large

Three men robbed a Pinole Chipotle Restaurant at gunpoint Sunday night, fleeing the scene with cash and leaving several employees injured.

The Pinole Police Department is still searching for the suspects, who according to witnesses, took off in a tan colored, possibly an older Toyota model, sedan from the Chipotle at 2696 Pinole Valley Rd. in Pinole.

According to the press release, officers of the Pinole Police Department were dispatched to the scene at 10:09 p.m. after a caller reported two males had robbed the business at gun point. By the time officers arrived, the suspects fled the scene. Police searched the area for the suspect vehicle, but to no avail.

Officers learned a total of three male suspects entered the store through the rear door just after closing. Employees were pistol whipped and beaten. The state of their conditions remain unknown.

At the time of the robbery, the suspects covered their faces using hooded sweatshirts and were possibly wearing masks. No further suspect descriptions are available at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Pinole Police Department Investigations Division at 510-724-8950.

Pinole's Police, City Council n/or Mayor may or may not be able to help us with major health-safety problem, but it's NOT all rocket-science here! The cheap money, rent grubbing landlord n shop-owners of this shopping center really need to "step-up-to the -plate n hire a full-time private security guard service (especially at nite) asap as a deterrent to protect the shopping public if not their own employees/assets! Especially since we/they cant rely on the "day-late, dollar short" Pinole Police (already under-staffed w/1-2 unfilled officer vacancies) to be there or protect them 24 x 7. How many more hits/robberies do they/we need before someone is killed if not suffers from permanent injury? (ie. in recent past, Pinole's Mechanics Bank was hit along w/the Liquor store n 7-11 across the street, Safeway, Target, Wings-Stop, w/EZ-access to escape get-a-way on-ramps n back-roads to I-80 Freeway, etc)! You can bet someone like local retailers Trader Joes, Walgreens or Happy Sashimi (w/bad/old stinky fish/sushi), etc, may be next on these hood-thugs hit list! Until this security/safety problem is addressed, fewer area shoppers, including my family will be out patronizing these stores-centers @ night, that's for sure!!!

Too bad not one of the employees had a gun of his/her own. Outcome would have been a lot different.

Louise, are u a cop? Maybe, NOTTA a good idea for employee(s) to tote guns in a public shop, as several people, employees may have been shot, wounded n/or killed (common sense, but u n/or others should ask the police for their professional opinion on do's n dont's!)
