Town Hall Meeting: Pinole needs more $$$
TheCity of Pinole will host another Town Hall Meeting on Monday, April14 at 6pm, to discuss a Revenue Measure to appear on the ballot. It would seem that the City Council is preordained to approve an easily attainable, simple majority tax, that would increase the Sales Tax either .25% or more likely .50% to go into the General Fund. The meeting will be a facade of transparency that the City of Pinole is adept at producing. The fact is that the prior Tax Measure S was intended for "Public Safety" but seems to have been used for anything but. It is estimated that the Finance Dept has 1.8 Million in Measure S funds Being used for revenue gaps and as a hedge for the inevitable settlement of the PERB lawsuit. A casual viewing of Council Meeting tapes of a June 2013 Council Meeting reveals a discussion in which a City Councilwoman jokingly remarks that using Measure S money to pay the Perb lawsuit settlement, is an actual Public Safety usage... The PERB lawsuit was the result of politics and the City had the opportunity to get out from under it, but they decided to Hardass with the Firemens Union and lost. And now the Taxpayers of Pinole have to pitch in more cash for these Council Clowns as they blundef*ck their way to yet another debacle and loss. This is another reason why I will vote NO on this proposed Measure. We entrusted this City Council with EXTRA money before and they did not use it for Public Safety. If you fool me once, shame on you. If you fool me twice, shame on me. This group running the City and the Political Majority in charge are not to be trusted with our tax dollars...
