Gerard Boulanger and William Wilkins have discussed and agreed on a common political platform to better address the issues our city is facing now.
Based on that common agreement, they have agreed to form a slate, which recognizes the issues and will provide solutions to fix.
See below for introductions:
Gerard Boulanger: I am 57, and have been married to Elizabeth for 12 years. My youngest child plans on attending college this year. I have been a Hercules resident for 16 years. My wife and I moved to Promenade in 2003 from the “birds” area where my wife had lived since 1984.
I have been a business owner in Hercules since 1998 and am able to work part-time, enabling me to dedicate enough time to the City’s affairs. One of my businesses is about providing services to help corporations during patent infringement litigations.
I was a City Council member for a city of 85,000 residents for 12 years and was reelected twice.
I belong to the Hercules Chamber of Commerce and to the Business Network International Chapter of Hercules. I am also a member of the Rotary Club of Hercules.
I am running to replace Council Member Kuehne who is facing a recall election in June. Almost 3,000 residents of Hercules signed the recall petition last month expecting Mr. Kuehne to be removed from the council. I am part of the solution while Kuehne is part of the problem. Let’s have a brand new council!
William “Bill” Wilkins: I am 61. I have 34 years work experience in public sector real estate. For the last five years of my career, before retiring in 2009, I served as the supervisor of real estate services for the City of Oakland, in the Community and Economic Development Agency. Since retiring, I now continue as a private consultant certified by the State as a general real estate appraiser.
Our family includes my son, Sean, a senior at Hercules Middle High School, who plans to attend Diablo Valley College next year; and my wife, Susan Tarvin, a volunteer at the high school, who is also the caregiver for her mother, Helen.
We moved to Hercules in 2003, and loved the city from the moment we moved here. We think that living near San Pablo Bay is wonderful, and we enjoy walking our dog throughout our neighborhood.
I believe that I have lots of time, now that I am retired, to devote to our city, and want to make this city a better place for all of our families to live.
I am currently serving on the Hercules Citizen’s Ad Hoc Financial Advisory Committee. This Committee was formed to explore our financial issues and make recommendations to help get our city out of its financial dilemma. Through my work with this important oversight committee, I am well aware of the sizeable problems and challenges now facing our city.
