Friends and family of Ted Alton Baxter are mourning the Pinole resident and World War II veteran who died at home on Oct. 7 at the age of 86.
Ted joined the Navy in 1944 when he was 17 years old. He also fought in the Korean War. After his time in the service, Ted moved to California, where he met his wife, Betty Jean Baxter, who was by his side when he died. The couple raised five children in Pinole, according to Legacy.com.
