$256K Lotto Ticket Purchased in El Sobrante

A lottery ticket purchased in El Sobrante earned a local woman more than $250,000.

The California Lottery says the Powerball ticket, redeemed Thursday, matched five numbers but missed the Powerball number.

It earned Virginia Renwick $256,317. She bought the ticket at Appian Food and Liquor, 4247 Appian Way.

She was one of six people to win a prize worth that amount.

Two Big POWERBALL® Winners from Northern California Come Forward to Claim Prizes

SACRAMENTO – By now we all know that the POWERBALL jackpot just keeps on climbing – up to $550 million (so far) for tomorrow night. But along the way, we’ve had quite a few big winners in California, even without anyone winning the jackpot prize.

In fact, two of those winners who matched five of six numbers in recent draws came forward to claim their prizes. The first, Virginia Renwick, came into the Lottery’s East Bay District Office this afternoon. She was one of six big winners of prizes worth $256,317 in last night’s draw. Renwick purchased her ticket at Appian Food and Liquor, which is located at 4247 Appian Way in El Sobrante (Contra Costa County). She successfully matched the numbers 2, 11, 26, 34, and 41, but missed the Powerball number 32.

Right after Renwick’s claim, Rene Plourde came into the San Francisco District Office to claim a $573,694 prize she won on May 11 for matching five of six numbers in that evening’s POWERBALL draw. Plourde purchased her ticket at West Payran Shell, which is located at 900 Petaluma Boulevard North in Petaluma (Sonoma County). Her ticket successfully matched the numbers 6, 23, 19, 43, and 13, missing only the Powerball number of 16.

The California Lottery reminds winners to sign the back of their ticket, keep tickets in a safe place and contact Lottery officials or visit their local Lottery District Office as soon as possible. Winners have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim prizes.
