Ohlone and Lupine parents should team up

Recently, some Lupine Hills Elementary school parents published an article about their concerns with respect to how they are being treated by the WCCUSD.  They aired their frustrations about the handling of staffing decisions and the lack of access to a grass park, that their children must play on pavement, and the transfer of 14 of their children 4 weeks into the school year.

Just down the street from Lupine Hills, Ohlone Elementary School was the victim of a decision by the WCCUSD when they replaced their experienced principal with an outsider who lasted one year.  Ohlone was already a weak school, with a state API ranking of 5 (out of 10), and a ranking of 2 or 3 when compared to schools with similar demographics.

The Ohlone scores then plummeted under the one-year leadership of the new principal who seemed to not have the time for her job, possibly as a result of her very long commute from Rocklin.   English learns dropped 56 points, Filipinos dropped 59 points, and African Americans dropped 47 points.  At Ohlone, only one group out of seven met their target growth.  At Lupine, three groups met their targets.

For some of these problems, PTAs are not appropriate, that parents need to form their own parents working group.  Lupine and Ohlone parents need to work together to get our children, and schools, to where they need to be ASAP.
