Hercules City Council Education Subcommittee to get the ax?

Tonight, the Hercules City Council will review and discuss the status of their subcommittees, including that subcommittee tasked for education issues.   It's not clear what purpose the Education subcommittee ever served.  Their webpage says "information coming soon!"  That was posted on April, 2011.  So maybe "soon" is now here.  This subcommittee held a discussion on June 5th (9:30AM) about the Hercules Education Commission, but there hasn't been any follow-up.

If not an Education Subcommittee, then what?  What does the small town of Hercules need in order to build a cohesive education community?  The three PTAs do not work together.  They should.  Hercules Middle High School does not even have a PTA, but instead a Hercules Community Partnership, or HCP.  The Hercules Education Commission seemed to be an entity where all Hercules education issues were brought to one table, but this entity became too politically charged and now lies dormant, placed in an indefinite time-out for bad behavior.
There is a Hercules Education Foundation, but getting buy-in is not easy as some see it as competing with the PTA as a school fund-raising entity.

The citizens of Hercules sure came together when they wanted to secede from the WCCUSD.  Would these same citizens be willing to come together to build an education community, even with the current far-from-perfect WCCUSD?
