Wind Advisory in Effect Until Monday

A wind advisory was put out to the East Bay and North Bay Saturday is in effect until Monday morning.

A wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service Saturday morning remains in effect today, with strong gusts expected to impact foothill regions in the North and East Bay.

Sustained north and northeast winds are expected to reach between 20 and 40 mph today in hills above 1,000 feet in elevation, with local gusts of up to 50 mph possible hills above 2,000 feet, according to forecasters.

The strongest winds are expected to pick up this afternoon over the North Bay.

The weather service warned residents to be especially careful using barbecues and outdoor ignition sources, and cautioned motorists on Bay Area bridges to drive with caution.

The wind advisory is scheduled to remain in effect until 10 a.m. Monday.
