Wednesday Log (7-27): Mail Theft on South Wildwood, Residential Burglary on Brighton, Obstruction of Justice

Shift report from the Hercules Police Department's watch commander.

0814 hours:  Mail Theft

 A resident in the 200 block of South Wildwood reported yesterday morning she placed three outgoing bills in her mailbox. At 1300 hours, she noticed her mailbox was open and the outgoing mail was missing. She contacted the Post Office and was told her outgoing mail had not been picked up yet. She later received a call from a bank in San Jose informing her someone attempted to cash one of her stolen checks.

1210 hours: Possession Of Stolen Property

An officer responded to the 200 block of Scotts Valley for a dirt bike driving recklessly in the area. The officer stopped the bike which was driven by a 16-year-old male from Hercules. A 19-year-old Hercules man was also contacted on scene and he said the dirt bike belonged to him.  The bike had been reported stolen to Richmond PD on 07/25/11 during a residential burglary. Both subjects were arrested. The juvenile, who was also on probation for burglary, was transported to Juvenile Hall and Sherman was transported to County Jail

1512 hours: Residential Burglary

A resident in the 200 block of Brighton reported a residential burglary occurred today between 0900 hours and 1500 hours. The victim returned home after his alarm company alerted him of an alarm activation at his house. He found the front door had been forced open and noticed a laptop had been stolen.        

 

1712 hours: Driving with a Suspended License

An officer stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Willow and cited a 30-year-old Hercules man on suspicion of driving with a suspended license.

 

2348 hours: Driving with a Suspended License

An officer stopped a vehicle on Sycamore at South Front and cited a 30-year-old Hercules man on suspicion of driving with a suspended license.

 

0039 hours: Driving with a Suspended License

An officer stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Willow and cited a 26-year-old Rodeo man for driving with a suspended license.

 

0250 hours:  DUI Collision/Obstruction of Justice/Probation Violation

Officers responded to multiple calls of a crash on Gloucester at Canterbury. A 22-year-old San Pablo man and a 24-year-old San Pablo man were standing next to a 1985 Toyota Celica that had collided into a stop sign and light post. The Toyota sustained major damage and came to rest on the grass area near the community pool. The 22-year-old admitted being the driver and was arrested on suspicion of DUI, police said. The 24-year-old was arrested on suspicion of obstruction of justice and a probation violation. Both were transported to County Jail.
