Las Vegas trek is lucrative for Pinole player.

A Pinole resident saw his wallet get a bit fuller as he placed 13th in one of the World Series of Poker tournaments in Las Vegas.

Todd Keikoan made his way through more than 2,000 players in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold 'em World Series of Poker tournament that started Monday and wrapped up late Wednesday night. He finished just three places from the final table, collecting $23,655. Tournament winner Brent Hanks took home $517,000.

Keikoan has six World Series of Poker cashes in the past few years for a total of nearly $92,000, with his biggest payday being $31,647 in 2010 during the $10,000 Main Event, a $10,000 buy-in No-limit Hold-em tournament.

The 43rd Annual World Series of Poker is being played at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. There are 61 bracelet-event tournaments being held from May 28-July 17, with the final Main Event expected to draw more than 6,000 players and pay out more than $7 million to the winner. In 2011, more than 75,000 people played in WSOP events, and more than $192 million in prize money was paid out.
