PG&E Investigating Cause of Power Outage in Large Area of West County

Outage that affected Pinole and Hercules lasted about an hour on Friday morning.

A power outage that struck more than 15,000 customers in West County has been repaired but PG&E has yet to conclude the cause.

The outage began at about 9:30 a.m., affecting areas of Pinole and Hercules to Crockett. Power was restored at about 10:45 a.m.

Hercules Municipal Utility customers were also affected by the outage, according to an email by City Manager Steve Duran.

A Contra Costa Times article attributed to PG&E spokeswoman Tamar Sarkissian information that the outage occurred with the failure of two substations in Martinez, but the exact has yet to be determined.
